John Farnham (51) | Wednesday April 24, 2013, 5:37 am Soil degradation is caused by industrial monoculture, use of oil based 'fertilizers' and lack of crop rotation. CAFOs overload the aquifer with shit, antibiotics, and pesticides. Plus fertilizer overuse leads to algal blooms, which are toxic. Crops are spread with sewerage sludge which is loaded with viruses and more. Radioactive coal ash is spread on crops, as is drilling mud...a mysterious mess of substances including more toxins. Deforestation of trees for making paper is especially ridiculous, as hemp can be used in preference and replace plastics as well - plus detoxify the soil. Now if people would stop shrieking 'The Earth Will Be Incinerated' because of modeling studies which should only be taken as explorations of processes - not predictions - could we possibly concentrate on dealing with these other obvious and provable attacks on our water and food supply, such as GMOs ? I am not a 'Denier'. Those who will not Search for the Science rather than political messaging are busy 'denying' logic and the knowledge that public corporate media cannot tell the truth. Franck A. (10) | Wednesday April 24, 2013, 8:43 am actually, it can all be subsumed into one root-threat, which is MENTAL -- a pandemic (W.Reichs' "Emotional Plague" was a pretty good observation/description - but it has 'mutated' and become a lot more malignant and ubiquitous since Reich's days; and while it maybe starts in the emotional realm, it then also affects reason/intellect and the material: body and products) which has infested (to varying degrees) just about all humans on Earth and also all human-built 'systems' like states/governments, "health-care" (i.e. making-profit-from sickness) ... education ... you name it .... software ... the Internet - the in$anity rages everywhere, is *highly* contagious, will leave nothing untouched, will not stop before the last sane&healthy society and group and individual is eradicated. Joanne S. (12) | Wednesday April 24, 2013, 11:12 am I often wonder, why do we treat Mother Earth this way? It's so sad that she has been taken advantage of all this time, and only recently we are becoming alarmed. It just doesn't make any sense. She really deserves much better care and only now we see this. I'm afraid its just to late. We live in a very sad time:-(( !! Your report has been submitted to Customer Service. Thank you. John Farnham (51) | Wednesday April 24, 2013, 12:34 pm Cecily The concept as presented by Eugenicists is called Carrying Capacity. And the current 'solution' may be observed by US efforts to destroy worldwide agriculture through Monsanto. The last time it was tried was in Central and South America over 60 years ago, in Nelson A. Rockefeller's destruction of farming through political and banking machinations putting food raising into corporate hands. The Panelist has an interesting video illustrating the nature of this covert warfare - which is affecting the U.S. domestic food supply as well "The Real Winner in Iraq Was Monsanto" Your report has been submitted to Customer Service. Sheila D. (18) | Wednesday April 24, 2013, 4:03 pm The answers and solutions are out there, we just have to convince the big businesses it's worth their while. Individually, we can do a little bit every day. I'm amazed at how much trash I pick up every day, just on my morning walk. And our area isn't that bad. Thanks for the article, Cher.
