Is your Android app on BlackBerry App World without you knowing?

In our review of PlayBook 2.0, we were eager to check out how well Android apps worked on the platform, and one of the first we reached for was the Dolphin HD browser. Curiously enough, it turns out Dolphin's makers MoboTap had no idea their app was available via BlackBerry's App World. The discovery came after we were notified by developer Steve Troughton-Smith that Dolphin HD had been submitted to App World by white label store Handster (owned by Opera). We reached out to MoboTap who confirmed they didn't authorize any submission by Handster, with a spokesperson telling us "We do not condone Handster submitting our Dolphin Browser app to BlackBerry's App World for us and are currently working to take it down and assure Handster will not submit our app for us again. We will assess developing for BlackBerry when the time is right." Dolphin HD may be a free app, but the question remains: why is Handster submitting it without permission? Has your app been submitted to App World without your knowing?

Update: We have contacted Handster's press department for comment, but no response at this time.

Many legal experts think,AD594CD Suppliers, apple from the Proview purchased iPad registered trademarks in the process, there are some abnormal behavior.
Proview said, in order to obtain the iPad trademark, apple rare to conceal their identity. Although law experts believe this accusation makes sense, but in the Proview last week to the California high court, apple can still take some defense measures. For example, Proview prosecution objects should not be the apple, and should be the purchase of trademarks of the company.
In 2010 January Apple launched the iPad, then in the global sales. In the last 14 weeks of 2011, apple iPad sales reached 15430000 units, China may contribute a considerable share.
Proview has because of a trademark dispute in China sued apple, the sale of iPad. Shijiazhuang and Huizhou and other city regulators have been asked to stop selling iPad.
Proview last week will also war broke out in the United States, submitted to the California High Court lawsuit alleging apple fraud. According to the indictment, Apple?s lawyers set up a fuzzy ?special purpose entity?, to buy iPad trademark. They also send mail promise, will not compete with proview.
Apple spokesman had no comment, but the company had previously said, has purchased the Proview global iPad trademark.
Apple lawyers will be the special purpose entity named IP Application Development Limited, and the Proview said, because iPad is just the name of the company ?s initials, so hope that the purchase of the trademark.
Due to concerns about exposure can lead to soaring prices, so the larger companies often in trademark negotiations with special purpose entities to hide their identity. But the New York trademark attorney Martin applied for Mo ( Martin Schwimmer ), to the product name of the special purpose entity practices are very rare. ? I have never seen such a strategy.? He said.
However, as what is said, despite the Proview fraudulent statement makes sense, but apples and some key measures of defence. Proview and apple transfer a copy of the agreement, the agreement itself will replace all prior representations and warranties. Because the Proview has not in the contract competition protection requirements, so whether Apple lawyer earlier in the e-mail said something, in this case may have no effect.
Santa Clara University Law School professor Anna Han Technology Licensing ( Anna Han ), Apple also can claim no responding. This is because the Proview was the trademark was sold to the special purpose entity, rather than an apple.
Proview spokesman had no comment on the lawsuit.
Proview International Holdings is the parent company of the first listed in Hongkong Taiwan company. In the late 90?s, the company also has one of the world?s top five companies list display.
In 1999, the United States of America Proview and chip manufacturers National Semiconductor cooperation launched I-PAD, this is a streamlined version of the desktop, the main selling point is the Internet and ease of use. But the Proview has been hit because of the financial crisis, the stock has also in 2010 in suspension hkex.
Often in the United States and China agent lawsuit trademark lawyers Laura Yang ( Laura Young ), California ?s lawsuit can also bring benefits Proview pr. China ?s lawsuit is not heard in public, the United States is different. Laura Yang said: ?this will release a lot of bad things, bad for apple.?
Once the Proview win, for all enterprises in the trademark of the negotiation process and will be a stern warning. ? They should be very careful.? She said.

Hong)

(AP) ? Baseball and its players' union defended their drug testing program Friday and promised to tighten collection procedures following criticism by anti-doping agencies of an arbitrator's decision to overturn NL MVP Ryan Braun's 50-game suspension.

At a news conference in Phoenix, where he reported to the Milwaukee Brewers for spring training, Braun criticized drug testing by baseball as "fatally flawed," citing the roughly 44-hour lag between when his urine was collected and when it was given to Federal Express for transport to a laboratory in Montreal.

The drug agreement between management and the Major League Baseball Players Association calls for the sample to be sent the same day "absent unusual circumstances."

While Braun left open the possibility that the delay could have led to his sample being altered, Major League Baseball Executive Vice President Rob Manfred said "neither Mr. Braun nor the MLBPA contended in the grievance that his sample had been tampered with or produced any evidence of tampering."

David Howman, director general of the World Anti-Doping Agency, called the delay a "technical breach" and was disappointed arbitrator Shyam Das ignored the substance of the case.

"The very experienced laboratory director in Montreal gave evidence that the sample had not been compromised nor tampered with," Howman said. "Accordingly, no damage occurred to the sample before analysis."

What is clear is that both sides will tell Comprehensive Drug Testing Inc., the collection agency, to adhere to the drug agreement.

"This case has focused the parties' attention on an aspect of our program that can be improved," union head Michael Weiner said. "We are confident that all collections going forward will follow the parties' agreed-upon rules."

"Our program is not 'fatally flawed,'" added Manfred. "Changes will be made promptly to clarify the instructions."

Speaking for about 25 minutes on the field Friday, Braun shed light on the events of his positive test and how his legal team successfully challenged it during a two-day hearing in January.

The collector, identified by two people with knowledge of the case as Dino Laurenzi Jr., took the sample at about 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1, after Milwaukee opened the playoffs with a 4-1 win over Arizona, and left Miller Park about 30 minutes later with the urine in a triple-seal container manufactured by Capitol Vial. Braun said the collector's son was with his father at the ballpark.

The two people familiar with the case, who spoke on condition of anonymity because Braun's hearing was conducted in private, said the collector testified he took the sample home. The collector didn't think the sample would be sent until Monday to the WADA-certified lab in Montreal, and believed it would be more secure at home than at a FedEx office during the weekend.

Braun, however, said at least five FedEx locations within 5 miles were open until 9 p.m. and there also was a 24-hour location. But Braun said the sample wasn't left with FedEx until 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 3.

During the gap, the sample was at the collector's home, and he placed it in a cool, dry area on a lower level, the people familiar with the case said. However, the collector didn't document his storage procedures, one of those persons said.

"There were a lot of things that we learned about the collector, about the collection process, about the way that the entire thing worked, that made us very concerned and very suspicious about what could have actually happened," Braun said. "We spoke to biochemists and scientists and we asked them how difficult would it be to tamper with somebody's sample. And their response was that if they were motivated, it would be extremely easy."

Yet Dr. Don Catlin, one of America's top anti-doping scientists, rejected the possibility of tampering as unlikely.

"It's slim, very slim," he said. "I don't like to use the word impossible, but it's pretty close to that."

Laurenzi Jr. did not return a telephone message on his cell phone seeking comment.

His father, Dino Laurenzi Sr., said his son was a collector for baseball's testing program and now at spring training. He also said he was unaware his son was involved in the Braun case. Told what Braun said, the father maintained any accusations "would be unfounded."

"He's a straight shooter. Never been in trouble," Laurenzi Sr. said.

Manfred defended the collector as "extremely experienced" and said he "handled Mr. Braun's sample consistent with instructions issued by our jointly retained collection agency. The arbitrator found that those instructions were not consistent with certain language in our program, even though the instructions were identical to those used by many other drug programs ? including the other professional sports and the World Anti-Doping Agency."

The NFL's labor contract specifies only that samples be "sent by Federal Express or similar carrier to the appropriate testing laboratory," without requiring a timeframe.

Travis Tygart, chief executive officer of the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency, thought the collector made the correct decision.

"You have to ask yourself how ridiculous the argument is ? particularly because athletes would much prefer to have their sample kept with the trained professional, hired by your union to maintain it and keep it secure rather than it being dropped off overnight at some random Mailbox Inc., in a strip mall waiting to be shipped out with a bunch of Christmas presents," Tygart said.

When the sample was tested in Montreal, it showed a ratio of testosterone to epitestosterone ratio of in excess of 20-1, a person familiar with the case said. A ratio of in excess of 4-1 triggers a positive test.

"They told me that the test result was three times higher than any number in the history of drug testing," Braun said. "It made me question the validity of the results."

A second test of the same sample showed the presence of synthetic testosterone, the person said.

Chain of custody is critical in defending drug cases. At Barry Bonds' criminal trial last spring, there were two days filled with witnesses ranging from federal agents to lab workers to scientists whose only testimony was to describe how they acquired the sample, who it was passed on to the next person, where and how it was stored, what tests were performed and when, and how each step was documented.

"If there's one thing wrong with the paperwork, you can lose the case," said Catlin, founder of the UCLA Olympic Analytical Laboratory. "But it's hard to make them totally perfect."

All 12 previous grievances challenging suspensions under the drug program were denied.

Catlin had a simple suggestion for MLB to tighten its procedures: Give each collector a small freezer to store samples under lock and key, until they can be sent to laboratories.

"Obviously it's bad form to have to say that the collector put biological urine samples into his refrigerator next to his milk and salad dressing," Catlin said.

Using Social Media Management and Other Internet Strategies to ...

Feb 23 2012

Recently, my father started his own business. The daily grind of working long hours for a firm in New York City finally got to be too much. Since he began this new endeavor, I?ve tried to appeal to my father about spreading more awareness about his business through web marketing and social media management. However, he is reluctant to use the various tools that the Internet offers to enhance his business. For my father, who simply wants to work until he can retire, this is okay, but for any home business owner that wants to build a successful enterprise, this cannot be overlooked.

My father isn?t well versed in the ways of technology. If it were up to him, we would probably still have a VCR and it would still be blinking the time as 12:00. But in today?s world it?s imperative for a business to be linked in to the Internet. Web marketing is an excellent way to reach a broad demographic. It?s important to keep in mind that even though you?re running a small home business that you can reach a global market by using the Internet.

Social media management is also important when it comes to reaching an array of different customers. Using Facebook and Twitter (or ?Tweeter? as my father erroneously calls it), can create more than only business. Social media can also create a sense of community between business and shopper. When people feel more comfortable with the companies they?re dealing with, they?re more likely to do business with them.

Small home businesses are at an advantage if they can accurately use the Internet to enhance business. Today, many people feel exasperated by large corporations and would prefer to deal with smaller businesses. Smaller businesses offer more personal interactions which make consumers feel more comfortable. Using social media can add to that feeling of personal connection. Even if your customers don?t live in your area, using the web can offer a customer business with a personal touch.

Given today?s economy, small home businesses have to be able to compete with large corporations. While they have the personal element that many customers prefer, they are still at a disadvantage unless they embrace the technology at their fingertips. Don?t be like my dad. Be proactive in terms of your web marketing strategy and take advantage of social networking. Use the tools available to provide your business the edge against even the largest corporations.

Tough times for HP ahead; will investors wait?

This Feb 21, 2012 photo shows a Hewlett Packard logo in Frisco, Texas. Hewlett-Packard Co. will update investors on its progress under CEO Meg Whitman Wednesday afternoon when the world's largest personal computer maker releases its fiscal first-quarter earnings. (AP Photo/LM Otero)

(AP) ? Hewlett-Packard Co. plans to spend years turning itself around as it addresses internal problems and battles broader threats from smartphones and tablet computers.

Investors willing to wait could be rewarded. Its market value is half of what it was about a year ago, and HP could start to improve in the second half of 2012.

It won't be easy, though.

After all, HP will need to fix itself as the personal-computing industry faces its own challenges, including reduced spending by consumers who are saving up for iPads and other popular devices.

Richard Gardner, an analyst at Citi Investment Research, described HP's road to recovery as "not a journey for the faint of heart."

After presiding over her first full quarter as CEO, Meg Whitman said Wednesday that she has a good sense of what the company needs to do.

For starters, Whitman said, HP needs to fix its internal operations. The company is unable to turn orders into products quickly enough, and its supply chain is a mess. HP has numerous parts in its inventory, but not necessarily the right parts to fulfill actual orders. The variety also creates confusion in sales and technical support. Whitman said HP needs to invest more in internal systems and procedures.

Longer term, she said, the company needs to spend more money to grow businesses such as security services, information management and Internet-based systems known as cloud computing.

"We didn't make the investments we should have during the past few years to stay ahead of customer expectations and market trends," Whitman said. "As a result, we see eroding revenue and profits today."

HP reported a 44 percent drop in net income to $1.47 billion, or 73 cents a share, in the November-January period. Revenue was $30 billion, down 7 percent and slightly below forecasts of $30.7 billion. It was the fastest revenue decline for the company since the recession hit 2009 results.

The division that makes PC desktops and laptops saw revenue fall 15 percent to $10.4 million. That's still about a third of the company's revenue. A shortage in hard drives because of flooding in Thailand was partly to blame. So was increased competition from mobile devices, which HP quit making last year after losing to Apple and manufacturers using Google's Android system.

To pay for investments, HP needs to cut costs. Whitman didn't offer specifics; some analysts foresee "restructuring" ? which often means job cuts.

"We have got to save to invest," she said. "We have got to save to grow."

Whitman became CEO in September after HP fired Leo Apotheker just 11 months into the job. Apotheker also complained about underinvestment by his predecessor, yet his decisions hadn't instilled any confidence.

Among other things, Apotheker announced that HP was looking to jettison its PC unit, which has large volume but small profits. That scared off some buyers, who may not have come back when Whitman decided to keep the division.

Whitman pleaded patience as she described "a multiyear journey."

Investors responded by selling shares of HP. The Palo Alto, Calif., company's stock fell $1.89, or 6.5 percent, to close Thursday at $27.05. Its market value of $54 billion compares with $104 billion about a year ago.

Louis R. Miscioscia, an analyst with Collins Stewart, said the stock looks cheap, but a turnaround now seems further away. He noted that IBM Corp., which transformed from a dying PC maker to a leading provider of software and services, had to work hard for more than a half decade to get there.

Nonetheless, he raised his price target on HP's stock Thursday to $28, from $25.

Of course, HP may be intentionally setting expectations low.

Analyst Shaw Wu at Sterne Agee said many investors dismissed Cisco Systems Inc. a year ago, after its focus got scattered from expanding into too many new markets. But the network-equipment maker has reported a few good quarters in a row. The stock is up nearly 50 percent since Aug. 10.

Wu expects HP's revenue decline to start slowing by midyear. That's when supplies of hard drives should rebound. Soon after that, HP could see increased sales from an upcoming release of Microsoft's Windows 8, an operating system that would work similarly on PCs and tablet computers.

If that's the case, a turnaround may happen sooner and reward investors who buy HP's stock now and hang on to it.

"It's tough to count them out," he said. "They have a lot of the ingredients. It boils down to execution. At least they have a game plan in place."

What Do GOP Candidates??? Religions Say About Contraception? (ContributorNetwork)

[unable to retrieve full-text content]ContributorNetwork - The Associated Press reports that GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney blasted President Barack Obama for attacking religious liberty in America. Romney claimed Obama "fought against religion" when health care reform mandated insurance companies provide contraception free of charge. Religious organizations have said that mandate goes against their principles and may not offer insurance to employees or students who work for various religious institutions.

How to Buy Silver Below Its Spot Price - Investment U

by Luke Burgess, Investment U Research

How to Buy Silver

Most investors are skeptical when you tell them that they can actually buy silver below spot prices.

But it?s absolutely true. And there?s no word play, or gimmicks. Anyone can do it right now.

The only caveat is, to buy silver below spot prices you have to make bulk purchases of the right silver vehicle.

Standard silver bullion ? like American Eagles and Canadian Maple Leafs ? can often carry high premiums above the metal?s spot price. And no matter how many you buy at once, you?d be very hard pressed to find any bullion dealers willing to part with Eagles or Maple Leafs below spot.

However, there is one specific set of silver coins that dealers quite frequently sell below spot prices.

They?re called ?junk silver coins?. And despite their less-than-flattering name, they?ve become one of the most popular investments for speculators looking to get the most silver for their money.

Investing in Junk Silver Coins

The term ?junk silver coin? is broad, covering many world coins. But at its core, a junk silver coin is any government-issued coin containing any amount of silver that has little to no numismatic or collectible value above the value of the metal it contains.

Although there are many world coins minted in silver, the most popular junk silver on the market today are circulated U.S. coins minted before 1965. Prior to that year, the U.S. government produced many of its coins in alloys consisting of silver purities ranging from 35% to 90%.

Investors buy these coins today for their metal content, paying attention to what they call ?melt value? ? which doesn?t imply the melting of the coin (that?s illegal) but rather the intrinsic value of the silver contained.

Here are the most common U.S. junk silver coins that are available on the market today and an idea of their melt values:

Investing in junk silver coins below spot price

In the past few years, the market for U.S. junk silver coins has been quite healthy as buyers quickly learn that they can be one of the absolute most affordable ways to buy silver.

A new, uncirculated American Silver Eagle typically carries a 10% ? 15% premium over spot prices right now.

Meanwhile, you buy can U.S. junk silver coins for as little as 1% ? 3% over spot prices. Sometimes you can even buy junk silver below spot if you buy in bulk.

But you have to buy the right coins. That?s because a growing interest in numismatics has greatly increased the premiums for certain, rarer U.S. silver coins.

A circulated Peace dollar in good condition, for example, will sell for a 15% ? 20% premium from a coin shop or online auction ? higher that the premium on a 99.9% pure silver American Eagle.

So if you?re interested in junk silver coins as an affordable way to buy silver, not all U.S. silver coins fit the bill.

But there are three specific U.S. silver coins that I believe provide for the best junk silver investment.

The Best Junk Silver Coins for Investment

The best junk silver coins are the purest. Junk silver coins with lower silver purities ? like the 40% silver Kennedy half-dollars and 35% silver Jefferson war nickels ? force you to mostly own other metals of much lesser value, like copper and manganese.

Popularity-wise, junk coins with lower silver purities play second fiddle to the 90% silver coins and are ultimately less liquid. So I recommend staying away from those.

So considering purity and rising numismatic values for the rarer U.S. silver coins, here are the three best junk silver coins for investment:

1964 Kennedy Half Dollar1946-1964 Roosevelt Dime1932-1964 Washington Quarter

Very few of these coins remain in general circulation. However, you will receive a silver dime or quarter as change once every blue moon.

Nevertheless, you certainly won?t be able to put together a sizable investment from the silver coins you find in your pocket change. So you?ll need to buy them somewhere. And the best places to do that are from coin shops and reputable online dealers. There, you?ll find junk silver coins sold in small denominations, or in what are known as ?silver bags?.

The Cheapest Junk Silver: Silver Bags

A silver bag is simply a bag of circulated U.S. junk silver coins ? assorted in either single or multiple denominations with varying dates.

A typical 90% silver bag will contain U.S. Roosevelt dimes, Washington quarters, and Franklin and Kennedy half dollars with a specific face value. Dealers most frequently sell silver bags with $100, $500 and $1,000 face values.

These silver bags are the absolute cheapest way to buy silver. Sometimes you can even buy just below spot prices, if you buy enough. One online dealer, Ampex, is selling a $1,000 silver bag for about 0.2% below spot right now. Below is a brief approximation of current premiums on silver bags:

Premiums on silver bags

To buy silver below spot prices, speculators may need to make a sizable investment. But for serious silver investors, a large silver bag could be very profitable if the metal?s price continues to rise.

Even though these coins are called ?junk?, they contain one of the most important monetary metals known to man: silver. Today?s coins are minted with base metals of much lesser value, like copper and nickel. It seems to me that they are the real ?junk.?

But no matter what you call them, 90% silver U.S. coins can be one of the most affordable and fun ways to invest in silver.

Good Investing,

Luke Burgess

Rotoworld: The essential NFL combine primer

The importance of the NFL Combine has recently shifted in the public's eye. Once viewed as a crucial piece of the evaluation process, it is now more of a media spectacle. The significance lies in the eye of the beholder, of course. In the NFL, teams value test results and measurements differently. What happens behind closed doors may actually impact prospects' draft value more than any stopwatch.

(Here's a look at the official 2012 Scouting Combine schedule.)

All-Important Interviews

NFL front office personnel arrive in Indianapolis armed with thorough background information on every prospect courtesy of college coaches and trainers. Participants with histories of off-field issues must understand this and be truthful during interviews. Two Oklahoma prospects, OLB/DE Ronnell Lewis and CB Jamell Fleming, struggled with academics (and disagreements with coaches in Lewis' case) that cost them playing time in college. In some cases, book smarts and football intelligence are unrelated, but each instance is worth researching.

One method is to put players, especially quarterbacks, in front of a whiteboard. Teams present a situation or play versus a certain look and ask prospects to regurgitate information on a clean slate. Russell Wilson (Wisconsin), B.J. Coleman (UT-Chattanooga), and Austin Davis (Southern Miss) should shine in these scenarios, as all three responded immediately to NFL coaching at their respective all-star games. The whiteboard is important for every position (Boise State WR Austin Pettis excelled last year), and an outstanding showing can pique an evaluator's interest just like test numbers.

Many seniors completed interviews at postseason all-star games, but the Combine is underclassmen's first exposure to NFL questioning. This year's obvious question mark is Arizona State ILB Vontaze Burfict, who failed to improve in college despite guidance from former veteran NFL coaches, with whom he consistently clashed. Tennessee/McNeese State DB Janzen Jackson and Oregon CB Cliff Harris are former top high school recruits with outstanding athleticism, but were dismissed from their college teams due to off-field issues.

Other cases include Alabama CB Dre Kirkpatrick, who still needs to answer every question about his dropped marijuana charge, North Carolina early entry DE Donte Paige-Moss, who took to Twitter to call out his team, coaches, and school after their bowl game, and Miami DE Olivier Vernon, who was suspended following the Nevin Shapiro benefits fiasco. These interviews are a crucial piece in a team's thought process when deciding whether to draft an "upside" player with character concerns. If failed, prospects can be removed from draft boards entirely (see Florida's Will Hill).

Medical Checks

Teams give prospects do-not-draft grades for extensive medical history just as they do for character concerns. The majority of clubs bring medical staffs to poke and prod players, putting each through a physical before taking the field. The relationship between the decision maker and lead medical trainer must be built on trust and understanding. The last thing a General Manager wants is to waste a draft pick on a player that will rarely practice. Three receivers who were highly touted before their senior seasons face uphill battles to clear their names from the "fragile" list: Nick Toon (Wisconsin), Ryan Broyles (Oklahoma), and Greg Childs (Arkansas).

Florida State OT Andrew Datko and Nebraska DT Jared Crick both missed the majority of their senior seasons due to injury. Datko played through a shoulder injury until he was shut down, while Crick suffered a torn pectoral muscle. Separation, through use of the upper body, is a key part of both players' games. Datko and Crick could reappear prominently in draft discussion if cleared medically.

Measuring In

Senior Bowl weigh-ins revealed that Russell Wilson stands shorter than 5'11". Moving from Mobile to Indianapolis, the spotlight will be on Baylor QB Robert Griffin III, who I expect to measure in right over 6'2". Wilson and Griffin come from different college offenses, and Griffin would ideally be about two inches taller, but both flash the awareness and footwork to find clear throwing lanes as well as an ability to throw on the move. They are not limited to the pocket but surely can be efficient in it.

For linemen, arm length may be most important. If I had to guess, I'd tab Syracuse DE Chandler Jones as the favorite to measure in with the longest arms. Jones is lanky and uncoordinated, but he may be a completely different-looking player a few years from now. There is a frame to build on.

It's a hunch from watching his game tape, but I expect Memphis DT Dontari Poe to be at the opposite end of the spectrum from Jones in terms of arm length. Just keep in mind that long arms are not necessary for a nose tackle, especially one as athletic as Poe.

Speed Kills

General opinion has Kendall Wright (Baylor), Justin Blackmon (Oklahoma State), Michael Floyd (Notre Dame), and Alshon Jeffery (South Carolina) in some order as the 2012 draft's top four wide receivers. Disagreements are common, but in some ways I still think receivers are linked to a stopwatch, and it shows in terms of burst, quickness, and straight-line speed. "Play speed" is most important, of course, but from watching their games I see Blackmon and Floyd playing in the 4.55-4.65 range, Jeffery in the 4.7+ range, and Wright at 4.35-4.45. Wright will surely pique the interest of fans tuning into Combine forty-yard dashes. He's already caught the attention of NFL teams.

Without pads, Indianapolis can turn into a glorified track meet. But it's always entertaining to see whether the top long-speed performers are the ones who can actually play. Florida WR/RB Chris Rainey, who played receiver at the Senior Bowl, North Carolina State WR/KR T.J. Graham, Oregon RB LaMichael James, Miami KR Travis Benjamin, Miami RB Lamar Miller, Virginia Tech RB David Wilson, and LSU CB Ron Brooks are all in the running for the top spot in speed tests.

Another player certain to test well is North Carolina LB Zach Brown, who holds the Tar Heels' 60-meter indoor track record. Keep in mind Brown plays without physicality on the field. His hands resemble pillows on contact, instead of delivering a solid pop.

Short-Area Quickness

Though it fails to account for upper-body strength and skills, the 20-yard shuttle effectively showcases which offensive linemen have an ability to bend, plant, and burst quickly in their lower body as well as move in open space. This is important because nimble linemen can react and redirect against quick-twitch pass rushers. Since 2006, Eagles C Jason Kelce, Raiders C Samson Satele, Panthers C Ryan Kalil, Patriots OT Nate Solder, Jets C Nick Mangold, and Colts OT Anthony Castonzo make up six of the top seven clocked times in the 20-yard shuttle. USC OT Matt Kalil and Iowa OT Riley Reiff's athletic playing styles will likely translate well in this test.

Much is made of a pass rusher's initial upfield get-off, but an ability to plant and quickly change direction can be equally effective. The 3-cone drill puts different types of pass rushers on an equal playing field. Since 2006, physical rushers like Cardinals OLB Sam Acho, Texans OLB Connor Barwin, Texans DE J.J. Watt, and Vikings DE Brian Robison make up the majority of the top six 3-cone times with Lions DE Cliff Avril directly behind. In this class, Marshall DE Vinny Curry, Boise State DE Shea McClellin, Mississippi State DT Fletcher Cox, and Oklahoma DE/OLB Ronnell Lewis exhibit short-area quickness when working around offensive linemen.

Position Switches

Two seniors that will make the switch from defensive end to linebacker stick out because they have limited experience in that area. Pittsburgh DE Brandon Lindsey looked out of place at 4-3 outside 'backer during East-West Shrine practices, but displayed a nice upfield move and length off the edge. It was shocking that West Virginia DE Bruce Irvin was not invited to the Senior Bowl. After being miscast at defensive end in the Mountaineers' 3-3-5 scheme, Irvin's best role will be situational pass rusher early in his pro career. Irvin lacks counter moves, but may flash in movement drills. He plays like a running back when rushing the quarterback, consistently avoiding contact.

Air It Out

Stanford's Andrew Luck, Baylor's Robert Griffin III, and Texas A&M's Ryan Tannehill will not throw in Indianapolis, opening the door for Brandon Weeden (Oklahoma State), Kirk Cousins (Michigan State), Nick Foles (Arizona), and Brock Osweiler (Arizona State) to make an impression. I expect Weeden and Cousins to look the best, Foles to flash arm talent but look uncoordinated in his drops, and Osweiler to show decent footwork but underwhelm with arm talent. Perhaps Osweiler will surprise, but he lacks both the necessary accuracy to lead receivers and velocity due to an erratic release. Misses against air are expected. Cam Newton was heavily criticized for overthrowing sideline outs in Indy last year, of course, so take reviews of these performances with a grain of salt.

Positional Precision

I am a big fan of the Gauntlet drill, where pass catchers are forced to secure multiple throws while running in a straight line across the width of the field. Most notably, I look for receivers that struggled to consistently catch the football during their college careers due to locating, laziness, or lack of hand-eye coordination. Three that stand out are Arizona's Juron Criner, North Carolina's Dwight Jones, and Texas A&M's Jeff Fuller, all big bodies that lose focus on easy catches or high targets. It may be the biggest knock on all three.

I'll also be watching to see whether Appalachian State's Brian Quick can rebound from his shaky Senior Bowl performance, where he dropped a couple balls each day. Quick can really locate the football, especially on high targets, so his unreliable hands surprised me. Check out Quick's game versus Virginia Tech to see his immense potential. Another receiver to watch is Stephen Hill, who may catch more passes at the Combine than he did during his entire career in Georgia Tech's option offense. I expect Kendall Wright, LSU's Rueben Randle, Rutgers' Mohamed Sanu, and Cal's Marvin Jones to show very reliable hands in every drill, even on poorly thrown passes.

(AP) ? Yemenis voted Tuesday to instate their U.S.-backed vice president as the new head of state tasked with steering the country out of a crisis created by an anti-government uprising that has raged for a year.

The vote can hardly be called an election as Vice President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi is the only candidate. It is, however, a turning point for the impoverished Arab state, ending President Ali Abdullah Saleh's 33-year authoritarian rule.

Saleh is the fourth ruler to lose power in the Arab Spring uprisings. But to the chagrin of many protesters, he will likely remain in Yemen, where nothing bars him from political activity.

As part of a U.S.-backed deal brokered by Yemen's Gulf neighbors, Saleh is stepping down in exchange for a blanket immunity from prosecution. But the outgoing president, who over the years has built a strong web of tribal and family relations, could still hold considerable sway after Hadi is installed.

Saleh is now in the U.S. for medical treatment after an attack on his palace in June left him badly burned, and hastened his descent from power. He is expected to return to Yemen after the vote. Still, he addressed Yemenis through a message read out on state TV late Monday, urging them to vote and praising what he said was a new breed of politicians who were born out of the crisis. He also held out the possibility of an ongoing public role for himself, possibly through his longtime ruling party.

"I bid farewell to authority," Saleh said. "I will remain with you as a citizen loyal to his country, people and nation ... and will continue to serve the country and its just issues," he added.

His successor Hadi cast his vote at a polling station near his house in Sanaa. Indicating the still volatile security situation in Yemen, Hadi 's voting station was changed at the last minute because of reports of a bomb threat. Security around Hadi was tight.

"This is a qualitative leap for modern Yemen," Hadi said after voting. "There will be big political, economic and social change, which is the way out of the crisis that has ravaged the country."

Yemen is the poorest country in the Arab world, with a weak central government, a secessionist movement in the south, a rebellious Shiite community along the northern border with Saudi Arabia and one of the world's most active al-Qaida branches.

The U.S. had tried to cultivate Saleh as a partner in fighting al-Qaida, providing him with funds, drones, boats and training for Yemeni special forces while keeping a limited presence of U.S. military experts in the country for coordination and training. It has also thrown its support behind Vice President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi in hopes he can and will help fight al-Qaida.

In a reminder of just how unstable Yemen still is, a voting station was also blown up in the southern city of Aden on Monday when gunmen fired a rocket-propelled grenade. Yemeni separatists in the south are lobbying against the vote.

On Tuesday, witnesses reported gunfire in a neighborhood in Aden. Adeeb al-Salani, a voter in Aden, said he couldn't reach the polling station because of the gunfire. He also said there was no security in the area.

But in Sanaa, voting was brisk.

Bushra al-Baadany came to the polling station with her young son.

"I am voting for Hadi as a new leader instead of Saleh because I want change," she said. "If Hadi is like Saleh, we are ready to have another revolution."

There are more than 10 million registered voters in this county of 24 million.

Yemenis first took to the streets to call for Saleh's ouster in January, 2011, inspired by the uprisings that toppled presidents in Tunisia and Egypt.

Since then, protesters have camped out in public squares and marched in huge numbers, despite crackdowns by Saleh's security forces that have killed more than 200 protesters. Hundreds more have died in armed clashes between armed groups and security forces.

Thinking of an Ethical Pension by Trustee Investment Planning ...

In today?s evermore conscious financial climate of what the ethics of the companies and trust funds your pension and investments actual funds, more and more of the general public are looking to set up their own private pensions with financial services that offer a range of Ethnical Investments and Pensions. Trustee investment planning offers a whole new way of doing things, for your retirement plans being secured whilst your money is invested in Ethnical companies that have beneficial social or ecological working commitments at their financial core.

Ethnical Investment funds look at the social and environmental behaviours of their companies that they fund with a positive record of ongoing benefits, that don?t damage the environment, make harmful or dangerous products or exploit their workforce with low pay or bad working conditions.

Ethnical Banking and Investments is worth about ?9 Billion in the UK investment markets according to The Co-op Bank. Ethnical finances have a growing range of financial investment products now encompassing banking, savings, mortgages, insurances and investments.

Switching to ethnical credentials is one thing with large financial companies and institutions? jumping onboard the ?Ethnical? bandwagon and offering ethnical financial products. Making sure your investments are ethnical can take a bit more effort. If you are truly interested in where and what you money is being used to fund, you can do background checks of the ethnical investment fund companies and their information on what they invest in though the Ethnical Investment Research Services ? http://www.eiris.org/ At the end of the day all Investment Funds whether ethnical or not are aimed to make money by being sold on the stock markets, by traders placing their value on the companies and trust funds financial performances, sometimes only for hours and minutes depending on the fluctuating economic times. By positive screening of companies beneficial ethnical characteristics you can be socially responsible in your choice of retirement financial planning.

If you invest in shares or have a pension endowment or life insurance through ethnical investments then you are a shareholder in those companies invested in. When you invest in shares you are giving your money to a company for them to use in their business ? hopefully generating a return in the process, which you see in the form of dividends and capital growth. ?Responsible Shareholding? involves buying shares in a company and then steering using your shareholder?s vote the company towards better social and environmental conduct. Or by investing in genuine ethnical investment funds that take into account a company?s social and environmental impact. It might sound like a particularly strict form of ethical investing, but from this point of view the principle is that there should always be a direct link between your money and the work of the company: your return should actually be earned in some useful way. That?s where trustee investment planning can come in for pension provision, because it enables many more ethnical options than regular pension providers do.

Trustee investment planning works in conjunction with SSASs or SIPPs, these will give extremely flexible and diverse investment opportunities for your retirement. Whereas regular pensions will rely on a limited number of big funds, with TIP you can invest in a far broader range of assets that you can precisely tailor to your ethical requirements. You can have shares in small companies ? even unlisted ones ? in which you have personal involvement, or in commercial property used by a specific business which has aims you respect and wish to support. On that scale, the direct, personal link between your money and the aims of the company is preserved: you know you really are doing well with it. (Unlike a normal private pension plan, you can also opt for ETFs ? perhaps clean energy or a social index.)

Trustee investment planning is therefore a way to broaden your pension provision to include a vast range of assets that reflect your ethics in a very personal way. Your IFA should be able to give you more details about how to go about arranging this with a SSAS or SIPP.
